“Summer Movie Camp began over thirty years ago and we’ve been happy to bring it back every year since,” said Stephen Morris, owner of the Gem Theatre. “It began as a chance for families and daycare centers to introduce children to the movie-going experience in a child-friendly environment.”

Best Popcorn Ever

Part of the movie-going experience is enjoying the concessions, but today’s big theatre prices make it unaffordable for the average family. Where else but the Gem can you get a small popcorn, a small drink, and a candy bar for under 5 bucks? Oh, and our faithful moviegoers consistently tell us that we have the best popcorn ever! Click here to see all of our concession prices.

Plan a Group Outing

Special concession prices are available for groups of 15 or more only if ordered in advance (before 5:00pm on Monday). A small drink and a box of popcorn will be ready for your group upon arrival for $2.00 per person. Click here to submit your requestion online.

Make a Day of It

In addition to seeing a movie, Downtown Kannapolis also offers many other activities that are perfect for a hot afternoon. Make a day of it by cooling down at Village Park’s Splash Pad and even taking your little ones for a ride on the Rotary Express Train. Plus, for all you music lovers, Kannapolis is also home of the NC Music Hall of Fame, a must for any movie-goer who loves music as much as film!

A History of Giving Back

We love giving back to our community because it has embraced us ever since we first opened our doors in 1936. We have a long history of helping those around us, including offering free movies during the economic recession of a few years ago. This story was even featured on NBC Nightly News. Watch the video clip below.

As a way to continue showing our appreciation, we’re excited to be offering affordable family fun all summer long. We can’t wait to see you at camp! See the full Summer Movie Camp schedule.

First Run Movies Too!

Remember that the Gem also shows first run movies for only $5 per person and admission is only $4 for shows before 6pm or anytime for seniors or children ages 2-12. See a list of our showtimes.
